Your position
at the table in relation to the other types of players
is very important for the preservation of your capital.
You do not want to be on the left of a tight player or on
the right of a loose cannon player. Ideally you want to
be on the right of a tight player or to have that tight
player on your left.
By doing this you will
know when that player has good cards and you will be the
last to act on the table when this player starts betting
and raising the bets. For the very same kind of reason in
reverse you do not want to find yourself at a table where
there are a bunch of loose players on your left hand side
but rather have the very aggressive players on your right.
With a very aggressive and loose player on your right you
will see the play in front of you and you will not get blind
sided by check-raises every other hand.
At all times before you
sit down at any table you really want to get a sense of
the quality of the players at the table and avoid a table
that you feel has superior players when compared to your
skill level.
Take time to reflect
on the style of play of your potential competitors before
you sit down with all your money on the table. And in the
event that you have misjudged a table and have already sat
down for a short period of time do not be shy to stand up
and walk away from a tough table.
